Pastor’s Thanksgiving Message 2018
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” – 1 Chronicles 16:34
I hope this message finds you having a wonderful meal with family and friends, gathered around tables, sharing hospitality and affection with those you hold dear. This is my first Thanksgiving as your pastor and I am at the parsonage cooking and baking, preparing to celebrate another year of blessings with my family. I am particularly thankful that we have been brought together in service of Christ in North Park. I could not have imagined back in May when I learned that I would be your pastor that things would be going so well so soon.
On Tuesday night, our newly-formed Worship Design Team met in order to begin our discussions and planning for what our worship services will be like in the future. We prayed for the congregation and that God would move, by his Holy Spirit, within us, as we gather for worship each week. As I looked to each face who had gathered for this important work, I recognized that our church cares for each other and is willing to do the tough stuff that we need to in order to love Christ and to bless this neighborhood.
And so it is with thankfulness that I pray for you this day. I’m thankful for your love for one another, your desperate search for a deeper relationship with Christ, and for your amazing welcome for me, for my family, and for, frankly, every person who darkens our doors. You live what you preach. You welcome the stranger. Thank God for you. Thank you for being the church that Christ is calling you to be.
Grace and peace be with you on this Thanksgiving day.
